MoonPay buys Glide to strengthen its crypto deposit stack

MoonPay has acquired Glide, a crypto infrastructure startup focused on deposits and routing, in an all-equity transaction. The deal adds another layer to MoonPay’s expanding payments stack as the company works to simplify how users move funds across chains and applications.

Glide’s public Y Combinator profile describes the company as infrastructure for crypto deposits, wallet funding and pay-with-crypto flows, allowing apps to accept deposits from any chain, wallet or exchange. That makes the acquisition strategically aligned with MoonPay’s push to control more of the transaction path from payment initiation to settlement.

Deposit Routing Becomes a Core Payments Problem

Glide’s technology is expected to be integrated into MoonPay Deposits, a product used by applications that need smoother crypto funding flows. MoonPay’s own support documentation describes deposit workflows through MoonPay Commerce, while its business materials emphasize routing and conversion for companies accepting crypto payments.

The acquisition targets one of crypto’s most persistent user-experience failures: assets sent through the wrong token, route or network. Deposit errors are not just a payments issue; they are also a routing, custody and chain-selection problem.

Glide’s infrastructure is designed to help applications reduce failed or confusing deposit flows by abstracting some of the complexity users normally face when moving assets across blockchain networks. That fits MoonPay’s broader attempt to make crypto transactions feel more predictable inside consumer and enterprise applications.

For MoonPay, the deal expands control over the transaction stack beyond fiat on-ramps. Instead of only helping users buy digital assets, the company is moving deeper into deposits, routing, embedded payments and back-end execution infrastructure.

Integration Timeline Still Needs Detail

The strategic logic is clear because cross-chain deposits remain a major friction point for mainstream crypto adoption. Users often encounter broken flows when assets are sent to unsupported networks, incompatible tokens or incorrect deposit paths.

By adding Glide, MoonPay is betting that reducing transaction friction can become a competitive advantage. Payment firms increasingly need infrastructure that lets users move value across wallets and applications without manually managing every bridge, swap or routing decision.

MoonPay has not disclosed financial terms for the acquisition, and the available information does not confirm how quickly Glide’s technology will be fully integrated into MoonPay Deposits. The practical product changes remain partly unclear until MoonPay provides more implementation detail.

The acquisition shows MoonPay continuing to consolidate more of the crypto payments infrastructure stack. The next useful indicators will be integration timing, deposit success rates, supported networks, application adoption and whether Glide’s routing technology meaningfully reduces user transaction errors.
