Schroders has brought its Emerging Market Bond strategy onchain through Centrifuge, marking the global asset manager’s first deployment on Solana. According to the official Centrifuge announcement, the launch provides tokenized exposure to the Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond strategy, expanding onchain fixed income beyond the Treasury and cash-like products that have dominated the sector. Schroders manages more than $1 trillion across its broader investment business.
The structure does not place the portfolio’s individual emerging-market bonds directly on Solana. Investors hold tokenized fund exposure whose value follows the underlying investment strategy, while Schroders continues managing the conventional portfolio. Tokenization changes the issuance and distribution layer rather than converting sovereign and corporate bonds inside the portfolio into individually tokenized securities. Centrifuge’s deployment documentation lists SISF on both Ethereum and Solana, with the Solana mint now live.
Emerging Market Debt Expands Onchain Fixed Income
The asset class materially differs from short-duration government debt. Schroders’ underlying Emerging Market Bond fund invests across bonds issued by emerging-market governments, government agencies, supranationals and companies, targeting returns above the JPMorgan Emerging Market Blend Equal Weighted Index over three to five years. Its performance can therefore reflect credit risk, interest rates, currencies and country-specific economic conditions rather than primarily short-term U.S. Treasury yields.
That broadens a tokenized fixed-income market already moving into progressively more complex credit products. Centrifuge has previously brought Treasury, AAA CLO and high-yield bond strategies onto Arc, while a separate Centrifuge-backed AAA CLO instrument has entered Pendle’s yield markets. Schroders adds emerging-market debt to that progression rather than simply creating another tokenized cash-management product.
The initial tokenized vehicle remains small relative to Schroders’ conventional business. Centrifuge currently lists approximately $200,442 in SISF AUM and a $100,000 minimum investment. That $200,442 is the amount attributed to the tokenized product and must not be confused with Schroders’ wider emerging-market debt franchise or its firmwide assets under management.
Solana Gains Another Institutional Fund Product
Solana has become an increasingly active distribution network for tokenized investment products. Securitize recently reported that Solana had become its largest network by tokenized asset value, with products including BlackRock’s BUIDL and VanEck’s VBILL already deployed there. SISF expands that asset mix into actively managed emerging-market credit rather than increasing Treasury exposure alone.
The launch also reflects a broader change in how traditional managers are approaching tokenization. Janus Henderson and Centrifuge recently brought a Nasdaq-100-linked fund onchain through JQQQ, demonstrating that blockchain-based fund distribution is spreading beyond fixed income into public equities. The emerging pattern is the tokenization of regulated fund shares and investment strategies rather than wholesale migration of the underlying portfolios onto public blockchains.
Centrifuge has described collateral, vaults and other financial applications as potential destinations for tokenized strategies, but no specific DeFi integration for SISF has been announced. Technical availability on Solana therefore establishes a live distribution rail, not demonstrated lending, secondary-market liquidity or collateral usage. Those would represent separate stages of adoption after issuance.
Schroders’ first Solana product is consequently notable less for its initial $200,000-scale tokenized AUM than for the type of exposure being introduced. Emerging-market debt brings active credit, sovereign and currency risk into an onchain fund market that has historically concentrated on simpler cash and government-debt products, while actual scale will depend on subscriptions and subsequent financial integrations.
